Elisa first started practicing yoga in 1998 after finishing her honors degree in Biology, and being unsure as to which direction to go in next. For the last 12 years, Elisa has been working and traveling around the world as a scuba diving instructor, underwater camera operator and boat captain. She has attended yoga classes all over the world, from the UK, Egypt, Thailand, Costa Rica, and the Cayman Islands. One of her possessions she carried with her while world traveling was a yoga DVD. While in the Cayman Islands, Elisa was racing Olympic Distance Triathlon and was a member of the Cayman Islands National Triathlon Team. She found yoga to aid the recovery process of her hectic 4-5 hour a day training schedule. With the help of yoga to ward off injury, Elisa finally completed a World Championship race in Hawaii in 2005. She placed well in a race between some of the world’s best elite-classed triathletes.
After leaving the Cayman Islands, Elisa moved into the yachting industry where she worked on board yachts owned by some of the world’s wealthiest people. She is a qualified commercial boat captain (MCA 200 tons). Once again, the world of yachting also took Elisa around the globe on a great adventure. Yet, with all this adventure and excitement in her life, Elisa was unfulfilled, even lost. She realized that material possessions and job titles were not a measure of her own self-worth.
In a world that is sometimes difficult to understand, she finds that yoga has brought peace and happiness into her life. Elisa completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Philip Christodoulou at Anuttara Yoga Shala (200-RYT), in early 2010. She is now dedicated to teaching yoga after experiencing the positive impact it has had on her life. She is also a well known Stand-up Paddle Yoga instructor within the South Florida Yoga Community. Elisa wishes to share the ancient spiritual practice of yoga with others, in a way that they can relate to today. Her favorite style to teach is a Power Yoga/Vinyasa blend… breathe, move and sweat!
